Earlier this month we took a little family vacation trip to our native Colombia. We have a large family, with a few living outside of Colombia, so getting us all in one room is not an easy thing to do. So it took months of planning and organizing to make it all happen.
Our little family of 32 met in the coffee capital of Colombia and took advantage of all the activities and delicious coffee available in this beautiful region of the world. We all stayed in a house surrounded by banana trees, parrots and reindeer (YES, REINDEER!!!)
We took a day trip to Recuca Coffee Farm, the first, but not the last of our coffee-themed adventures. Recuca is dedicated to educating people about the different types of coffee, how it's grown, and, most importantly, how to make the perfect cup of coffee.
One of my favorite stops was to El Parque del Cafe, a coffee theme park. This is the Colombian coffee version of Disney... it's magical... sooooo much coffee. The park is beautiful, has awesome rollercoaster, and a stunning show that made most of the audience weep.
We also visited beautiful towns and a scenic national park. But most importantly we got to hang out with our family, eat brownies (that right, we brought brownies), and we drank coffee and a glass or two of rum and aguardiente.
Memorable encuentro!
